Ninth Annual Meeting

This year's annual meeting was held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 and featured a talk by Professor Wu-Chung Hsiang "Past, Present and Future of Diao-Yu-Tai." 2011 Peace and Reconciliation Tour in China

This summer up to 20 students, teachers and scholars were invited on a 16-day tour of Shanghai, Nanjing, Harbin, Beijing and other historical places in China. The tour was designed to enhance understanding of the cultural and historical background of China during the Asia-Pacific War (1931-1945). This once-in-a-lifetime tour took place from July 10 to July 26, 2011. (Application information here.) Winter Meeting - January 22, 2011

This year's APHAFIC Winter Meeting featured guest speaker Professor Lester Tenney, Ph.D., author of “My Hitch in Hell: The Bataan Death March.” Professor Tenneyis addressed a group of a about 30 in a talk entitled “After 65 Years Why Do We Still Need an Apology From the Japanese?”.

This free event was held at the San Diego City Library, Carmel Valley Branch at 3919 Townsgate Dr., San Diego, CA at 10:30am to 12:30pm. After Professor Tenney’s talk, there will be a book signing and refreshments.

Film: City of Life and Death

APHAFIC will sponsor the film City of Life and Death (original title: Nanjing! Nanjing!) Sunday, October 2, 2010 at 2:00pm as part of the the upcoming San Diego Asian Film Festival held at the Mission Valley Ultrastar (at Hazard Center). Tickets will be available at a discounted price through mail order. Limited free tickets will be available to students.
