Point Loma History Awards Banquet
Ten Point Loma High School students of history class of Mr. Patrick McElhaney, Social Studies Department, Point Loma High School, were recognized for essays they wrote about their reflection after watching the movie "Nanking" at the 11th Annual Point Loma History Awards Banquet at Bali Hai Restaurant in the evening of June 9th, 2016. APHAFIC ANNUAL MEETING ON JUNE 4, SATURDAY, 2016
Guest speaker: Mr. David Chai (柴大定), (former Mayor of Holmdel, NJ and currently resident of Foster City, CA) on the letter translation project with GA members participating in editing 500 English-translated letters written by Chinese victims about twenty years ago (see San Diego Chinese Historical Museum summer newsletter, 2015). A ONE DAY TRIP TO LOS ANGELES ON MARCH 5, SATURDAY, 2016
To visit comfort women statue in the Central Park, Glendale in the morning and Monterey Park Chinese and American World War II Memorial Monument (http://aphafic.org/archives/Archive_2014.html) in the afternoon with short talks on the establishment of the statue and monument.
