APHAFIC Outreach with North County Chinese School (NCCS)
The APHAFIC Outreach Committee, in cooperation with the NCCS, hosted a half day lecture program on October 15, 2009 to the NCCS High School Credit students from 9-12th grade at the Taiwanese American Community Center of San Diego. Click here for full details about the event.
APHAFIC Summer Poolside Party
APHAFIC held its annual Summer Poolside Party in La Jolla, California on August 29, 2009 featuring guest speaker Mr. Richard Winter, an ex-POW of Corregidor, Philippines. Click here for notes on the event.
APHAFIC Seventh Annual Meeting
APHAFIC held its seventh annual meeting on Saturday, May 30th, 2009 at the Emerald Chinese Seafood Restaurant from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. The program included dinner, annual reports, keynote speech, and book display. Cost was $40 ($30 for students). This cost included a $10 donation. The keynote speech this year "Reflections on Our Movement and Our Mission: Successes and Objectives" was delivered by Dr. Peter Stanek, GA President. Reservations for events are available by writing a check payable to APHAFIC and mailed to Lilin Wang at 8178 Avenida Navidad #21, San Diego, CA 92122. China Study Tour - Summer 2009
The Global Alliance is organizing a 2009 China Study Tour for high school teachers and educators, a great opportunity for learning and travel. This year the focus is on Shanghai, Nanjing, Yunnan, southeastern and southwestern China. The trip will be held on June 30 - July 15, 2009. Applications must be received by April 10, 2009. APHAFIC Dinner Meeting on January 14th
APHAFIC held a dinner meeting on Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 featuring Rev. Yoshikuni Kaneda who presented "Japan Report: Focusing on Japanese Racism Caused by the Emperor System." Presentation on Atrocities in Asia During WWII
Professors Sam and Carol Edelman, founders of the State of California Center for Excellence on the Study of the Holocaust, Genocide, Human Rights and Tolerance, presented “Teaching About Genocide” emphasizing The Rape of Nanking and other atrocities in Asia during WWII on March 19, 2009 at 3:45pm at the Harold J.
